Station C: Together On Our Own

I translated into French the new website for Station C, the Montreal co-working space where I’ve spent lots of time and met many friends since it launched two years ago on St-Laurent Bvd.
Founded in 2008 by my friends Patrick Tanguay and Daniel Mireault, Station C was the first Montréal incarnation of the global co-working movement, modeled after San Francisco’s Citizen Space and the Vancouver Hub among others. I wrote about it in La Presse just before it launched, which seems like ages ago.
Over the past two years, Station C has seen a lot of talented freelancers and passionate minds work between its walls. Some of those designers, programmers, writers, project managers and other 21st century entrepreneurs have become partners, clients, suppliers – and often, close friends. Exciting new start-ups like WhereCloud, Status.net and Nexalogy were born there.
Station C helps many of us share much more than a space. Everytime I walk there for a last-minute boost of inspiration, for a change of scenery or just to get out my fortress of freelancing solitude, the creative energy in the air makes me love my job even more. This might sound cliché, but Station C is not just a shared office; it’s a shared experience.
Featuring a fully-functional events calendar and the official Station C manifesto, this new website was written in English by Megan Poss and Christine Préfontaine with pictures by Christian Guay.
